An eye examination is about more than checking whether you can see clearly.

At Byrne Eyecare, we take the time to understand your vision, ask about any concerns and examine the health of your eyes. Our examinations are supported by modern diagnostic equipment, including the Optos Monaco Pro.

We’ll talk you through the examination and take the time to explain what we find, so you leave with a clear understanding of your vision and eye health. Whether you’re attending for a routine examination or have noticed a change in your vision, our approach is thorough, personal and tailored to you.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING AN EYE EXAMINATION?

Your appointment will involve a series of tests to assess your vision and the health of your eyes.

We'll talk through your current vision, any changes you've noticed and your wider visual needs before carrying out the comprehensive series of tests.

These assess both your vision and the health of your eyes, helping to screen for conditions such as glaucoma, diabetic eye disease and macular degeneration amongst others. An eye examination can also provide valuable clues about your wider health, with changes in the eyes sometimes indicating underlying health conditions.

We'll explain what we're doing throughout the examination and discuss the results with you afterwards.

ADVANCED EYE TESTING

Optos Monaco Pro

The Optos Monaco Pro is an advanced diagnostic system that allows us to capture ultra-widefield images of the retina and examine a much wider area of the back of the eye.

This provides additional information during an eye examination and forms an important part of our approach to assessing eye health.

YOUR EYE HEALTH

Regular eye examinations are an important part of looking after your eyes and maintaining good vision.

Changes in vision and eye health are not always noticeable, and an eye examination can detect changes that may otherwise go unnoticed, as well as ensuring your prescription remains appropriate.

For most people, we recommend having an eye examination at least every two years. Some patients may benefit from more frequent examinations depending on their age, eye health, prescription or wider health needs, and we will advise you if an earlier review is recommended.
